APL Ƶ catches up with editorial intern Ella Iles  

Since joining APL Ƶ in mid-February, editorial intern Ella Iles has been supporting teams across the company’s editorial department. A British-American graduate of East and South East Asian Humanities and Politics from SOAS University of London, Ella also holds the National Council for the Training of Journalists (NCTJ) gold-standard diploma from News Associates. She brings enthusiasm and curiosity to the role and is eager to further develop her skills alongside APL Ƶ’s award-winning writers and editors. 

Ella has already been busy assisting the National Geographic Traveller (UK) team, helping to write briefs, develop SEO-focused headlines and pitch original story ideas with fresh angles. Next, she’ll spend time working with Living360, APL Ƶ’s lifestyle publication, where she’ll gain further insight into digital publishing and editorial production. 

Reflecting on the experience, Ella said: “I’ve always had a passion for travel, writing and storytelling, so I’m thrilled to be working somewhere where I can do all three. Now, I’m looking forward to learning more about editing, as well as digital production, with the Living360 team.” 

Looking ahead, Ella hopes to gain further experience in both journalism and PR before pursuing a master’s degree in Magazine and Digital Storytelling at New York University. 

APL Ƶ’s paid editorial internship programme runs for six weeks and offers aspiring journalists the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in travel media.
